We're very proud of our long and colourful history that spans over 100 years. Join us on a journey through time as we explore the hotel's transformation and the three locations that have helped shape our identity. The early beginnings: Slotsgade 35 (1905 - 1928)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Our story began in August 1905 at Slotsgade 35. The handwritten minutes kept by the board of the Seamen's Home bear witness to a different world, where we bought our first building for the impressive sum of DKK 58,700. In the picture you can see the building that still exists today and that many will recognise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A new era: Teglgaard Harbour (1928 - 1958)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In the late 1920s, we moved to Teglgaards Havn, which was our home for 30 years. Unfortunately, the building no longer exists, as it is now home to our neighbour, Nordkraft - a cultural centre pulsating with life and activity. Our archive holds pictures and memories from this period, such as an old postcard from 1937.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The current building (from 1958)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In 1957 we laid the foundation stone for our current building, which opened the following year. The foundation stone can still be seen when you drive past the hotel on \u00d8sterbrogade. Take a look at the old photos documenting the development of the building. Our archive once again holds exciting finds from this period, including documents from the days when breakfast cost DKK 5.50. Today, our historic building houses all Standard rooms, which were extensively renovated in 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The latest extension: Superior Department (2019)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In 2018, we took another important step in our development by changing our name to KOMPAS Hotel Aalborg - a strong brand that reflects our rich history as a seamen's home. The following year, we inaugurated a new wing with our exclusive Superior department, where guests can enjoy modern facilities in a stylish and comfortable atmosphere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
